Doug Cosart

The next time you see Doug flailing around on the squash court like a beached guppy, be sure to ask him about the good 'ol days. Like back when he put his electrical engineering degree to work for one of America's largest defense contractors. Of course, if he does reveal anything to you there's the possibility your friends and family will never see you again. But hey, go ahead, roll the dice.

One thing Doug will definitely talk your ear off about is his cute lil' baby, Photology. He is cracking the whip on the team to ensure the product is constantly improving, polishing up every last pixel of the user interface so that everyone will "ooh" and "ahh" over it just like he does. With "only" a Bachelor's in electrical engineering, Doug is the academic runt of the Photology litter. Nevertheless, he was also one of the co-founders of Emispec Systems, Inc. and a software development manager at FEI Company.

Doug is a big fan of puppies, thunderstorms and soulful exchanges with random strangers online.

Robert Hendriksen

Never has the term "conference him in" been used more frequently. That's because the fifth member of our team, Robert, is marooned in Holland (rough life). When he's not skipping through the tulips, he likes to conjure up dynamic interface tools for Photology software, making it possible for those of us with IQ's below 160 to reconnect with our most cherished photos.

Robert earned his Master of Science from the University of Eindhoven in 1993 before going on to work on several high-level software projects for BSO/Origin and FEI. At BSO/Origin, Robert worked as a software engineer on Electron Optics and Medical Systems. In other words, software is part of Robert's DNA. After his time at BSO/Origin, Robert joined FEI as a team leader for TEM software (we're not sure what TEM stands for, but you can rest assured it's way over our heads). When he's not designing cutting edge software, Robert has been known to race his speed boat through the canals of Amsterdam. And, his favorite color in wooden clogs is yellow.

Steve Kim

From the frozen tundra of Northwestern University to Southwestern employment, Steve is just as happy playing Halo 3 as he is researching and implementing new image processing filters for Photology. Steve was recently tapped as a contributing editor at EngadgetHD, where he waxes on about technology and serves as a role model for geeks throughout cyberspace. In all seriousness, that is a big honor. With a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering, Steve has been hanging around Doug, Tim and J.K. for far too long, having put up with them all at Emispec Systems, Inc. and FEI Company.

Steve is an avid photographer and has a love of movies - old and new. Personal favorites: Say Anything. "Kickboxing...it's the sport of the future." And O Brother, Where Art Thou? "Damn, we're in a tight spot!" Steve is also the resident "cat lady" and loves to torture his cat, Man, by taking thousands and thousands of photos of him.

Tim Lenz

Does "managing the surface modification of insulation" sound too complicated for the first sentence of a bio? Uh...yeah! That is just one of Tim's favorite positions from his resume. Sporting a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, Tim tackled the nitty-gritty details required for data mining in the defense industry as well as supervising the production of knowledge-based systems for the automotive and aerospace industries. As a result, Tim has developed mean acronym generation skills (MAGS), working with various government funding agencies (GFAs).

Now, Tim is excited by the opportunity to provide software that helps people reconnect with the images and memories they love. He also heads up the complaint department for Photology, so if you need help with anything in the middle of the night, his home phone is (480) 555-1234. Be careful before filing any complaints, though, because Tim is currently mastering the martial art of Krav Maga and is capable of removing your eye lashes faster than you can say "cheese!"

JK Weiss

This piano-playing, physics Ph.D. is excited to restore some order to the photographic chaos congesting most hard drives. Back not long before his hair prematurely turned the distinguished shade of gray it is now (he says "silver"), J.K. left the friendly confines of academic research in atomic-resolution electron microscopy to found Emispec Systems, Inc., a company that manufactured computer systems for data acquisition and analysis from electron microscopes. Did you get all that? In 2003, he sold out (his words) Emispec to FEI Company and became a Director of Engineering.

After a few years working for The Man, he got together with some of his Emispec/FEI buddies to start up Enoetic and create Photology. But this time, he's vowed to do something that "more than 100 people in the world care about." When he isn't developing mind-bending software to solve everyday problems, J.K. tries to work up a new Chopin or Bach tune on what he refers to as his "mistress" - his Schimmel grand piano.
